I love Makoto Shinkai's stories but this one is not gonna be a fave for me. I really feel conflicted about it. It started fine then it got odd, I was just wondering where was it going and what was the main point of this story? It was a real dramatic slice of life kind of manga. I was so eager to read it thinking it might be like "A Man and His Cat" story but it felt flat. I loved Chobi whom I think, at the end, he might have saved his mistress from a very bad decision and by this showing us the great importance of pets for the human's mental health and well-being.
Anyway, the art was good by Tsubasa Yamaguchi who made "Blue Period" which I enjoyed. I like Shinkai's books/movies and I will read/watch anything he creates.
