The World of Yaxin: Day of the UnicornThe World of Yaxin: Day of the Unicorn by Man Arenas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads synopsis:

"On an island between dream and reality, a young faun named Gabriel is fascinated by the extraordinary new creatures called unicorns. "A magical thing born of nature,” he muses... What mystery surrounds their birth? What place, what function do these mythical animals occupy in this imaginary world? Poetic and musical, The Day of the Unicorn approaches the fantastic from a peaceful, intimate angle. Each page is like a graphical haiku reflecting a feeling or idea rather than an event. The carefully crafted text supports this narrative idea and aims to awaken certain emotions buried in us.

Spun from the pages of his unfinished graphic novel series by noted artist and author Manuel Arenas, this poetic fairy tale appeals to the innocence in all of us, exploring the mystery of unicorns from a child’s perspective."

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Such a beautiful book with amazing and magical illustrations about the beauty of this mythical creature that is the Unicorn. I loved the artwork so much but the story was told in such a poetic way that was originally written in French but wasn't well translated into English, in my opinion. Anyway, we can understand easily the story without the text.
